It is difficult to single out specific illnesses for which naturopathy is particularly recommended, as the methods used are suitable for both acute and chronic conditions.

Commonly experienced concerns are:

  • Immune system problems – frequent colds, ‘flu’s, asthma, persistent cough and mouth ulcers. Sinusitis, ear infections.
  • Skin complaints – rashes, itches, acne, psoriasis, eczema.
  • Headaches, migraines, learning and focus difficulties.
  • High blood pressure, high cholesterol.
  • Liver and gall bladder concerns.
  • Hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia.
  • IBS, Crohn’s Disease, Celiac Disease, constipation, excessive wind, lower abdominal bloating.
  • Frequent bladder infections.
  • Thrush.
  • Allergies.
  • Weight gain.
  • Insomnia.
  • Menstrual cycle related problems.
  • Infertility.
  • Anxiety and depression
  • High stress levels, loneliness and feelings of not being able to cope.
  • And more….

Some clients are already taking prescribed medications but want to deal with their health concerns (acute or chronic) by natural means.

Naturopathic methods can complement Western medicine very well. Such clients will be advised not to stop taking their prescriptions and to advise their doctors that they are working on improving their general health. After a while, we usually find that as general health improves, the prescribing doctor is able to significantly reduce or often cease prescribing certain medications.

Notable exceptions are thyroid medications, insulin and certain heart drugs. Jennifer is always mindful that sometimes naturopathy is not the only way, and in such cases works on improving the overall health of the client.

Great care is taken to avoid any possible negative interaction between already prescribed medications and possible natural alternatives.

But in some instances (such as hormone replacement therapy) it is possible to wean off the prescribed medications in conjunction with bringing in natural replacements.
